    2012 Tacoma TRD Off Road
hey guys, I'm new here any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

The other night I was driving my 2012 Tacoma TRD off-road (auto transmission), getting on the freeway, when all of the sudden my truck wouldn't go faster than 30 mph. The TRAC OFF and Check Engine lights immediately went on and no matter how much I tried to accelerate, it wouldn't go.

Eventually I was able to get it off the freeway, going 30 in the emergency lane the whole way, and take surface streets home. At some points, by letting off the gas and allowing the car to shift, I was able to get it in another gear that allowed it to go up to 40-45 mph. After letting it sit for the weekend I attempted to get it home last night, and while doing so noticed that it had virtually no power going up any hills.

I took it into the dealership today and they quoted me over $1000 to fix it, mentioning something about a valve stuck open, or something alone those lines. I'm going to go back in tomorrow and attempt to get more information.

Anyways, has anyone ever had this happen, or have any idea what might be going on. Like I said, I'll update this thread when I know more. I am in Simi Valley if anyone knows a good mechanic.

    Thanks in advance!
