So I was looking into ways to watch my transmission temperature as I tow a good bit and its pretty hot here in georgia. instead of paying $100 for just the temp gauge, i decided I would spend a little more and just get a performance monitor, that way I can have a back up camera for attaching to a trailer as well.
I'm new with Tacomas and had a couple of questions. Are there any brands y'all would recommend? Would this Edge CTS2 insight performance monitor work? http://www.thoroughbredtrucks.com/e...taTacoma#additional?tokenurl=2003ToyotaTacoma

I know it says 1996+ on all vehicles but just want to make sure before i spend several hundred dollars.
    Thanks for any info!

Not sure on that, but... Do you know about the obd dongle and the android app called 'torque'? Pretty much shows everything you need, and probly everything that edge product does(didn't look at the details, just the price ) for a hell of a lot cheaper. Like, $20 for the dongle and app. Won't be as fancy, but I love it. Temps along with lots of other useful sensors work great.

Plus get a separate backup camera and still be under $100 if you need that.

i'll look into that but i need a better phone first... haha. I have a lot I need and want right now so I'm just doing research so I know what I buy will be money well spent! But yeah i can get a back up camera with the monitor for like $60. I just like having the temp gauges and such on the same monitor but the edge monitor may be too costly for me so I may just have to get over that lol
