I know Nick and don't sweat it man!!! I do feel bad that it didn't work out for you, but is kinda the reason why I wanted to do a "radio check" the night before? BUT, I understand that it was late as well! What, it was about 9:30pm when I was going to drive by on PCH. I don't particularly care for "off banding" for quite a few reasons, but I STILL wanted to try out both the HAM and the CB setup. Remember we were talking about using CB's more often for trail rides at the beach meet we just had? CB is WAY simpler and you CAN achieve approx 3-4miles of communication (non-line-of-sight) with a 4ft whip and that was done in a city environment surrounded by power lines!!! Also, to have "HAM" and CB in your rig is ALWAYS a better setup as you can go to either and/or opens up more "options" for regular and/or emergency communications!!! But, that is just me!!! NOT everyone will have a CB and NOT everyone will have a HAM radio. To have BOTH, is a plus in my eyes, but again, it is what it is with other peoples thoughts on the matter. Anyways, whenever bro.

Btw, behind driver is for my 800MHz handheld scanner and/or any other radio. It is a BNC mount going to a "pigtail" on the inside of the cab. Thus, I can connect just about any radio I want... pretty much... within reason. The middle is currently my 3ft whip because I was getting tired of mounting/dismounting the 4ft whip to clear the car port! Behind the passenger is currently my dual band antenna that is connected to my 2m Yaesu mobile.

EDIT: That is a 2ft whip antenna... NOT a 3!!! Anyways, the 2ft clears the car port! Maybe if I aired down the 3ft may have just fit, LOL!!!

Thanks for the info mate
That's ironic, the first trail I used the cb on I was in the front because I had a cb

Yeah Danny, I don't particularly care for NOT being able to just have "1" option to save my hairy a$$, LOL!!! Cell phones out in the desert, you can KISS your hairy a$$ goodbye, LMAO!!! That is why I have both CB and HAM. BUT, some people just don't get it though???:facepalm::notsure:

I even carry a pocket book repeater guide with me. It is not the most up-to-date guide, but, for now, is better than nothing. I proved today that the 2m Keller Peak Repeater is still what it is as well as some other 2m repeaters that I know of!!! For an established repeater site to change is pretty distant so as the reason for me not wanting to change my pocket book from year-to-year! That's just stupid and wasteful, but hey, it's that persons money and not mine! I really don't know how else to put that last statement? Just my 2cents on the matter?! Finally, if you really are that paranoid about not having the latest repeater guide then go to the web for the information, speaking in general terms of course and not you Danny. But, it is what it is, you know what I mean??? Anyways............. maybe someday we will finally meet at a meet (LOL) and "talk shop". Btw, glad to hear about your son and your rig. Regarding colds/flus, I always give myself an extra day or two before I call it a victory. The damn thing always makes a hard comeback if I call a victory too early!!! Glad to hear it though!!!

Carrying both radio options is one of the best handful of bennies I've spent on the truck, hands down.
