Question for you Cali folks that have cut off the end of the exhaust at the down turn. Has anyone ever had any issues when it comes to passing smog?

As long as you don't chop off emissions equipment you'll be fine. I had an ex-cop turned smog tech smog my 4Runner and he told me to take off the intake and come back. No problems with the turn down exhaust.

18" of tubing past the last catalytic converter is all that is required according to the BAR. Meaning, no muffler is required if it falls below the acceptable decibel levels(which it won't without a muffler)...

What about when they use that probe. It usually rests in the exhaust tip because it is running horizontal.

I cut mine off just where it started to turn down after the axle. I passed smog without a single question.
