Very good analogy. I struggled with color choice, only because each time I saw how an individual owner had pimped out any color, that became my new favorite. My least favorite was Sky Silver...and I still liked it. Color is only important as you make it, for some the "right color" is a big deal, others not so much.

I finally narrowed it down to white, quicksand and inferno. My last truck was white and I drove it for 14 years, so a change was in order. That left quicksand and inferno. Inferno is a very in your face color, a little too much attention grabbing for me, but I can totally see why it's such an appealing color. Quicksand is almost a non-color, it's subtle and yet still intriguing, largely due to how it looks different depending on the lighting. I surmised that my interest in quicksand was at least partially due to the lack of the metal flake treatment of many of the available finishes. It works for me, but I wouldn't feel slighted by any color choice, beyond my long standing refusal to buy a black vehicle. Beautiful but a little too much work for my daily driver.

You were not wrong. It's radically different from previous models and requires acclimation. Coming from my 2004 I had even farther to go than the 2nd gen owners. I like my truck better every drive. Welcome to the dark side.

Something that works better containing smaller smaller items, and something that works better as a divider.

I hate the tubular extenders that are already available. The radius of the tubes in the corners kills space. And small things like firewood can slip between the tubes and end up on the hood of the Buick behind you.

Mine will be made from 14 gauge laser cut steel and have a lot more space. We'll also give it some grocery bag hooks (the the factory one).

To tell you truth, I was really worried that Toyota killed a legacy with the 3.5 liter powerplant. As most of you know, I'm trying to build a business off that legacy, so I was kind of shitting my pants. I was even looking at other trucks to make parts for.

But, now that I figured out how the thing likes to be driven, I'm psyched about getting one and expanding my product line. Third gen is the king of all Tacoma's.

Its refreshing to hear from someone who knows their shit that Toyota didnt drop the ball with the new powertrain. I mean hell, you listen to some 3rd gen owners and it sounds like the world is ending!

The only downside I see Chad is now you will have to deal with the 3rd gen forum on a daily basis. o_O

I picked her up today and did a little work already:

    (btw, I'm already in love)

Here she sits in stock form.

Finally I can take my 10/22 Takedown with me. Fits like a glove.

Got my flashlight mounted behind the seat, right above the dog blanket.

The Magnaflow sounds way better in person than any of the clips I heard.

I put the Pro Comp wheels from the 4Runner on it, but new ones are on the way.

    UPDATE:

I thought I would miss some of plushness and niceties of the 4Runner, but this thing is better in every way.
