Do you know the total weight of the trailer + horses? As long as you don't exceed the 5,000lb weight limit (3500 if you have the 2.7l) you should be fine.

Ok thank you! I have the 3.4 liter with the towing package, the trailer is like 2000 lbs and the horse is 1000, do I need to have a trailer brake controller?

    OME and worth every penny.
    Good horse?
I'd go whole hog then and set it up right.
I pulled a '28 travel trailer once with mine at highway speed and swore never to do THAT again.
Also nearly lost a compact tractor coming down a bridge so I'm never doing THAT again either.
brakes are a no brainer. Sway control a probably and dist. hitch a possible.

read that tow primer. these trucks aren't really for towing.

Having installed more Hitches and rebuilt more horse trailers then I care to think about for crazy Horse Women.

Seems most of the Women in my life belong to the crazy Horse Women group

There is no way no how I would use a Tacoma to pull a horse trailer with only one horse .

Mine was not bad for backing trailers into the shop and pulling them out.

Yes you could build your Tacoma in a very Expensive Custom way to handle the towing duties .

A 6" lift kit makes it even worse .

Not knowing just what sub group you fit in look at the trucks at the next show or rodeo you go to doubtful you will see a Tacoma Maybe some Tundra`s

Upgrade to a Tundra if your a die hard Toyota Girl.

For my Serious Towing I have a Ford F250 7.3

I would not want to see you or your Horse hurt

2000 lb trailer +1000 lbs of moving cargo + Tacoma at highway speeds, turns, etc = scary!

Even a half ton you know horses are back there and can feel them moving around.

It'll be far superior in every way for towing horses.

The truth is even though you should no better sooner rather then later for some stupid reason you will end up with 2 horses.

Always happens that is when things go south in a bad way real fast .

The truck's suspension sounds like it was lifted way beyond the 3" or so design. I wouldn't tow with it. Other than that, it can be adapted to pull a 2-horse trailer without the world (or the hoses) coming to an end.

6K pounds? That's a stretch, for any Tacoma. Still, people here on this forum have done it of course. Braking, power, suspension, and circumstances all matter. So you'll get no "recipe" from me.
