After much deliberation about cross bars, over/under tonneu, bed racks etc etc. I just ended up making my own in bed kayak rack.
Slides in and out, connects to d rings via hook and eye turnbuckles so it pulls itself tight and secure to bed walls.
J bars bolted directly to the 2 X 6 cross braces.
Weighs maybe 30 lbs and ill probably hit it with some bedliner paint when I get some more free time.
Yaks slide right in and out of J's nice and easy.
They are both 10' and I have no worries of them being unbalanced or not secure.

I don't get it. Why not just slide them in the back , lash them down and be done? I carry 2 like that, tarpon 120 and a pungo.

I tried that. I had the J's already though and I wanted to put them to use somehow. Besides, I didn't pay for any of the lumber and hardware it was all just sitting behind my shed.

I have 2 10 ft. Kayaks and I don't need anything but tie down straps to hold them down. One is flat and the other sits on the side of the 1st one in.
Not sure why anyone would go through the trouble of "making" things to put them in an already adequate truck bed. Mine stick out and I just put a red flag on them to be safe and not get a ticket.
