Well, the wife did, anyway. After 4 years in a very sporty Sonata turbo limited, she is getting into a 2016 4Runner SR5 Premium. We'll miss the 35 mpg but I won't miss getting the "my car is in the median in the interstate because there was 2" of snow on the ground" calls. Hope it's as reliable as my awesome Tacoma has been! Anything I need to know or look out for in the new 4R?

    Congrats!

I came out of a 2012 DCSB OR for a 4Runner. I love mine man. Zero issues and I put some miles on it..58,000 in under 18 months.

Old ride up front, new in the background.

Thanks! We'll be ready for any amount of snow with one of each in the garage. Plus it will be great to have the cargo space for the dogs.

    And thoughts?

If you're like me the longer you own it the more you'll like it.

I like it for the most part - definitely more luxury than my truck. She likes them though. No real complaints, other than the pressed-aluminum look of the wheels. It's the wife's vehicle, so if history holds true I won't drive it much, which is fine. It looks good next to my Tacoma.

Nice! The wife is feeling the gas mileage though. "I can't believe I'm getting 17 mpg! It'll get better, right?"

Yep, it'll get better once it learns your driving habits, stops searching for gears and everything breaks in. You might be getting 18 mpg by spring! :)

We are getting 18 / 20 I knew going in it would suck on fuel mileage but got what I wanted sticker said 17/21 so it's on par with the sticker

3,000 miles on the truck now, and still getting 16.5 mpg. Think I'm going to pull the negative terminal connection to reset everything & check the tire pressure.

    Did your mpg improve?

    I normally get ~20.5mpg.

Wife saw a jump of 1/2 mpg on her last 100 mile highway drive, so she's pushing 17 now.

I have a 3inch lift ko2 e rated tires bfn wheels with sliders and full rci skids. On a good day I'll get 17 no more then 17.5 on a bad day I'll see 15.8-16. When I was stock I'll see 21. I noticed at least for me it wasn't how low I could keep the rpm for good mileage but how moderately I can accelerate to speed and keep it at that speed feathering the pedal vs cruise control

Yup, it's probably her driving. And we could probably have an argument about it, or I can just let her drive it how she wants and get 17 mpg. It ain't breakin us, or we wouldn't have it in the first place. ;)

I'm getting 20.5mpg in mixed highway and city driving. This is with 1K on the clock.

They all be lying if they said they got more than 17-17.5 mpg whether you're driving like a bat out of hell or tapping it like an old lady, but the good thing is it remains stable at thst, does not lessen or fluctuate as it gets older, unless of course you don't keep it up! So no worries, what you see now is what you ll continue to see for the next 20 yrs or so, mines a 2004 and it started at 17 and continues today at 17mpg and i personally drive like a bat out if hell ALL the time! :)
