    Hey Everyone,
I am currently looking to purchase a 1st gen tacoma but wanted to get some opinions from the pros. There are two on the market im looking at right now, I'm just "worried" that the miles are high. what are your thoughts on these two. price seems right? I have inspected both, no rust, and all maintence has been very well maintained.
    Thanks,
    Ryan
    First is a 2002 4wd $7000

    :notsure:
Do you want Manual or Automatic transmission?
I would not be too concerned with the mileage on the trucks the 3.4L is a stout engine when maintained. (check the timing belt service records)
    Prices seem fair. *IMO

    Thanks Joe,
I am ok with either transmission. I just Haven't driven a manual in over 2 years lol, but have heard they are "bullet proof with the 3.4L. thats only if its been properly maintained. The water pump and timing belt was changed on the 1999 at 105k miles. The only thing that sticks out to me is the clutch has not been replaced yet. It feels good, but i dont know the average life on a clutch for a 99.
    Again thanks for the response,
    Ryan

The 2002 looks really clean, i'd go for that. And I have a 1999...

I agree with you 99supertaco. The 2002 does look really nice. Only drawl back is its and automatic. Are they pretty reliable transmissions?

The 2002 looks nice. Timing belt and water pump will run $800-900 if needed.

1 has a working AC the other doesnt, the only reason that its "needs" freon is that theres a leak somewhere use that as a haggle card I would pic the 02 because of the updated grille and head lights but im biased. Ask how long the AC hasnt worked and why they didnt get it fixed they may be hiding the real problem.

Both are comparable to the one I bought last year, and considerably cheaper.
