Has anyone gotten a definition of what amount of lift or if any lift will void aspects of the warranty on the new Tacoma?

Obviously Toyota wouldn't be on the hook for the specific aftermarket lift parts. But by installing them am I shooting myself in the foot with the factory warranty?

Totally dealer dependent, and what they can 'prove' that was affected by the lift.

ANY lift will void anything they can point to for some dealers. Others, not as fussy.

If the lift is actually functional, as in you need it to overcome shortcomings of the trucks performance for you off road, you may want to roll the dice.

If the lift is just pretty boy stuff, not really solving an off road issue, you might choose to wait till warranty expires.

I was told the golden rule by most service tech's is no more than 3'', especially since above 3'' means drop bracket and cutting cross member. The only thing by law that voids the warranty is if it was directly caused by the lift, most of the case this is CV boots since angle is adjusted and maybe vibs in drivetrain, they have to prove that the lift caused the failure, its really gonna be the relationship you have with your service department. For instance my 2011 had a 3'' lift on it, the right side of my front diff started leaking due to the seal failing (dirt, etc.) they replaced it under the 5 yr/60k powertrain warranty no problem/questions asked where some service writers may in that situation try to blame the lift as it changes geometry angles. Most dealers are good about lifted tacomas and warranty work since SO MANY are lifted to begin with.

Doesn't work like that. Failures and malfunctions that reasonably result from the lift will not be covered under warranty. Some examples:

Front diff bearing vibe/noise due to increased CV joint angle from the lift - not covered.

Stability control malfunction due to higher center of gravity - not covered.

Frame rust at the point where an aftermarket cross member was welded in (for 6" lifts) - not covered.

    Stereo stops working - covered.

The potential problems can develop with any amount of lift. Some more likely to happen with 3", some more likely with 6".
