I occasionally have trouble getting into reverse. It happens if the gears aren't lined up. If I shift to 5th then back to reverse it usually lines up the gears and it goes into reverse. Letting out the clutch a little will align the gear too.

Ok so I'm looking to order a borla exhaust system for my 2016 MT all they have listed on their site are the Automatic version. Does anyone know if the exhaust fits the same. I cannot get a straight answer anywhere.

Replaced my clutch this past weekend. Got an AISIN clutch from the dealership for $140. I found an OEM flywheel online for $180. I chose to replace the flywheel as I would not know its condition until I took it off the truck. I ended up having my original flywheel resurfaced after the fact, as it was still in fine condition (now I've got an extra flywheel).

What I thought was the sound of a bad throw out bearing was actually springs that had broken off of the disc! I am not sure how that happened but I am glad that I replaced it when I did.

The new clutch feels great. It feels like I am driving a completely different truck. The clutch pedal is much easier to depress, yet returns to it's engaged position much quicker as well. The AISIN clutch is by no means a "performance clutch," but it feels great and will serve me well for highway driving, around town, and some light off-roading. I would not take it rock crawling, but I feel it will do fine on the logging roads I use for hunting.

One of the huge reasons I choose the manual: So may moving parts and so many part to fail. When one fails, ripping into the auto tranny is quite a task. And this video only covers one part of the auto tranny, arguably one of the most expensive and the most important, and likely to fail.

No to mention much better power distribution on the manual :)

I ordered the Borla 140680 catback. Should be arriving soon. On the site it only lists automatic, but if you look at the install instructions it says automatic or manual. Well, the install instructions also say 4.0L engine...

But if you are going with the catback then you should be fine. There is no difference between the automatic and manual transmission trucks in terms of exhaust.

If you want to be sure beyond belief though, you can wait a couple weeks for me to install mine.

Awesome thanks! Let me know when you install yours and how you like it. Also it says it's 2.5inch exhaust when I thought the 2016 trucks were 3inch exhaust. Let me know if that's listed incorrectly as well. I loved my borla on my 2015 and want one for the 2016.

I tow with mine pretty regular and have towed near rated capacity with it. Truck does well for its size actually tows better than a v8 Z-71 Silverado I used to own. I keep the truck in 5th gear when I tow and the fuel mileage just depends on the terrain and the weight of the load just like any other truck.
    Things I have towed:
    1) 1985 Toyota (my crawler) 5000lbs load
    2) Kabota mini excavator 5500 lbs load
    3) 2004 Dodge 2500 4x4 6100lbs (flat towed with tow bar.)
    4) cut up tree from my yard 4900lbs
    5) 1.5 yard concrete mixer
    6) my welding/fabrication trailer 3500lbs
    7) pallet of Quickcrete (today) 5300lbs

All these weights are trailer and load combined save the Dodge that I flat towed 35 miles on a tow bar.

I know y'all might say I should have gotten another full size truck to replace my 01 dodge 3500 but I wanted another Toyota and I'm not driving an automatic transmission truck. I still have a 3/4 ton dodge to use for heavy loads but this one does so well I just use it most of the time.

Great info, thank you for sharing. I just past my 500 mile mark so the first part of my brake in period is over and I will be test towing my dad pop up trailer next week hopefully to give this truck a little more of a work out. I will post some thoughts when I get done.

This is excellent info. I didn't feel wary at all given the light (~2200lbs) trailer load I'd be pulling regularly, but this is put things into perspective quickly. Thanks.

Anyone figured out how to pull out the cup holders in a '16 with 6MT? I'm used to removing cup holders occasionally to clean them but these don't easily pull out.

The whole upper part of the console just unsnaps pulled mine when I changed my shift knob. Could do that to clean them.

FINALLY ..... I got to drive an MT. I haven't been able to find a v6 MT in all of Michigan for well over a month. Local dealer just got a Sport AC LB.

My toys (jeeps, not TOYotas) have always been sticks, but I have never owned one as my daily driver. I've certainly played around and taken my toys to work, but never on a regular basis. So, I needed to spend a little time driving one to make sure, before I ordered one.

I was impressed. I hardly had to touch the clutch, and it grabbed so smoothly. I have no reservations about ordering my MT Pro now.

If anyone in Michigan is looking for one, Grand Blanc Motor Cars has it. Talk to Wendy Hosea. I just bought a Sequoia from her, and will be getting a Pro from her in the fall.

Did you get to drive it in stop-n-go traffic? What was a good rpm to shift from 1st to 2nd?

No, there wasn't any stop and go traffic. However, I did intentionally stop at several parking lots along way just to get a better feel of dead stop starts. I wasn't watching the rpms of the shift points, I was just listening and paying attention to the clutch. My current jeep is a very deep stroke, but this one was so shallow that I was just getting used to it, and then working to be as smooth as possible. Honestly, I was kind of distracted by how nice it was. Yes, it is a very low (IMO) 1st, and you don't want to be in it very long, but given my typical driving patterns I will have no issues with it.

The only thing I didn't like was how strongly the stick returned to center. Within the first 2-3 miles, I meant to shift 5-6, and didn't notice that it pulled back a level until I let it out and it was 4th. Not a big deal. I assume it will break in a bit, plus I now know that, so no other mis-shifts.

Highway cruising was way quieter and smoother than my 10 4R. I'm sure a lot of that is tires. I was at 84, when I thought I might have been low to mid-70s. Wow.

Cool, and thanks for the tip on shifting from 5-6. Hopefully weren't at the redline on 5th :)

Bought my truck and it already had a trd short throw in it. I hated it, made the trans feel terrible. Put a stock shifter back in it an dhow it's a joy to drive. Nice and smooth
