    Hey guys,

I recently traded my Ford Craptor in on a 2004 Tacoma extended cab. The truck has SR5 and TRD packages and is a 4x4, 5-speed 3.4l truck. The great was in great shape mechanically and was well taken care of by its previous owner. It's been up here in flagstaff, AZ it's whole life so the frame was still nice and stout with only minor surface rust. I'm hoping to build the truck into the usual weekend warrior/camping/daily build. Here's how it looked right when I got it home:

The truck was mechanically sound, bet left a bit to be desired as far as bodywork was concerned. I really fell in love with the Toyota Quicksand color. So decided to give that a shot:

    image_zpsvzwgsth3_cfd2c09928ae2c3f88e986d91ed0e96acc0d9586.jpg

...but maybe with a bit of a twist:

    image_zpsnn92mnb3_96169133c236a0aeb1881d72ebfdf22172af03e7.jpg

I started by stripping the truck of all the easily removable panels and trim including bumpers, fenders, hood, grille, bed, lights, rear windows, all moulding, etc. I wanted it to look good, so I decided I was gonna do the door jambs and everything.

With the bed off, I decided to take care of the surface rust on the frame with some rust oleum rust converted and a couple coats of semi-gloss black. Good as new!

After the first coat of quicksand raptor liner:

And the truck mostly re-assembled with new black housing headlights and wrinkle black grille. Have a safari snorkel on the way, flares will go back on after that's installed:

Thanks for checking out the thread! Will post more as work is done!

My FAVORITE color, by far. Great job with the paint.

Likewise. I think it's a little better looking in proper two stage paint, but the bed liner sure is easy to take care of!

Awe man... This makes me wish I had more dollars. Why'd you go with Raptor line? Sorry just curious, I'm planning on Monstaliner.

Raptor is tintable in any color you want. Last time I checked, monstera liner was only available in pre-mixed colors. It seems like it's also designed to be rolled on and I wanted a spray on product. Can't really go wrong either way. Both seem like great products.

Yeah make sense. I guess that's the reason I'm choosing monstaline, cause it rolls on. Also they have a color that looks fairly similar to quicksand.
    Thank you.

I wouldn't let the spray on aspect scare you. You can see my little 4 gallon crapsman compressor in some of the photos. I had to wait for it to build pressure pretty frequently, but it did the job. A large percentage of my job involves rolling paint on walls. Wasn't looking forward to doing that to my truck. :D

I just know I get pretty impatient when it comes to paint. Anytime I spray it usually ends up with run marks. I dunno, just have I see, it's a ways in the future.

Gotcha. You would have to really try to get the raptor to run. It's pretty thick stuff. The worst part was the prep. Especially since I did the door jambs and everything.
