Just a bunch of old crap
    Hi all,

Well, I had my valve cover gaskets fixed, and when I degreased and ran the truck for a couple weeks, I see that they had covered up another leak that I am trying to identify. This is on the passenger side of my '06 4.0, straight above the steering rack on the side of the motor near the front by the pulleys. The pic view is looking up and to the side of the motor from the tie rod boot. I don't know that this mechanism is that appears to have the leak behind it (top slight right of picture), as there is no oil leak above it at all. Can someone help me identify what this is and what the leak might be coming from? All of the brown you see is fresh oil, about 6" wide.

Uggh. That sounds like hell. It's a slow ooze, so I'll deal with it for now. Definitely going to be a shop job.

Thank you for the input so quickly, though.

It took me 6 hours to swap my steering rack today, so I'm moderately skilled.
