DRL Question

Hey guys, seems people talk about this but I can NOT find the answer. Please help:

2008 TRD Sport DRL do not work
They do work as hazards, turn signals, and lock/unlock flash

Is this something that was disabled from the factory on some years? I know my old 2009 base model and 2010 TRD Sport had them on all the time and I installed the DRL mod.

This 2008 has 2 wires going to each bulb. Im sure there is a DRL controller that controls multiple relays that controls the hazards, turn signals, and lock/unlock flash.

 

I'm not sure that DRLs are standard. My '09 doesn't have them.

 

You probably do not have the DRL Option.

Run your VIN through Toyota and find out what it came with.

 

Can this be added? Does anyone know if it is a simple controller missing? Tacomas seem to come prewired for everything.

 

My 2009 has them, was told it was a "regional" option @ $40.00 (was itemized on window sticker). I'm happy, that $40 got me new headlamps 6 years after purchase for "free".

Adding DRL to older Tacomas will melt the lens. 2010 came with it and replaced with TSB.

 

My 2010 didn't.
