Spicer requires:
-Timken Test Load 50 lbs. min.
-N.L.G.I #2 specification. Grease must have an operating range of +325°F/
+163°C to -10°F/-23°C
-ASTM D4950 LB certified

Molygraph has a; 45lb Timken load, flashpoint of 302*, and no GC-LB

Who assembled your u-joints?

 

Ok, what if I already pumped some in the u-joints? Can I just buy the recommended grease and keep pumping it in till I see it come out?

 

Yes...out all 4 seals of each u joint.

Did mine, truck only has 70 miles on it. Pretty much all joints took 4-6 pumps. Only one of them though purged out what appeared to be the original grease, all others purged out the grease I was putting in.

I also want to add that I re-did the joints after watching Spicers video on youtube. I did not have grease purging from all 4 seals. After redoing that, again I saw no original OE grease coming out, only the grease I was using.

Also this changed nothing noticable in the way the truck drives. I do have vibes between 25-15 mph. Tried to eliminate the trans by shifting into neutral and they're still there, so not likely my trans.

Do you guys think adding grease would void warranty? I had the dealer take a look at my truck for vibration between 30mph and below. You can feel it more when slowing down coming to a stop. Well, the second head honcho of the dealership drove my truck along with me inside for the ride. His title is director of operations... Something like that. Anyways he said there is something defiantly wrong that the truck should not be doing that. Gave me his card and told me to call him to set up a date and a rental. He said it feels like the driveline. So when they go to look at it and they notice I added grease, do you think they came blame it on me?

 

Don.t see how this can be done wrong. There's no issue of adding too much since it purges on its own. Adding the wrong grease could be an issue in the long run, but you should be re-greasing at regular intervals anyway.

Mine was vibing prior to greasing, the reason why I checked. Its still doing it after having done so. I wouldn't worry, just tell them you added it since it was a problem prior.

Question ... i got under my truck (2016) and was able to find 5 zerk fitting and each took several pumps of grease, i never removed a cover that i seen mentioned in some earlier posts ... so did i miss one or is it not neccessary to remove cover to get to fitting?

You are good. The cover does not need to come off. I just went over it.

There is a zerk under the cover. I was able to reach it with the hose from the side without removing the cover, but it would have been far easier to access by removing the cover. It's there, try turning the front driveshaft with your hand.

 

So a few weeks ago I greased mine. I did four of them with no problem, but then had one that would not take any grease. I tried everything. I was pretty irritated by it and figured it would need to go to the dealer. On a whim I crawled under there tonight and tried again and......success!! They are all well greased and I am happy!
