Hi all I have an 02 Tacoma 4x4 trd 3.4 litre anyway I get a slight tink noise from my rear driveline, I've been under the truck, with the e- brake on and the wheels chocked with an assistant in the cab letting out on the clutch I hear a slight tink between the front u joint and the carrier bearing, the sound sounds like it's coming out of the driveline, the unjoints seem to be fine there is some play in the carrier bearing, have any of you ran into this before. The noise comes and goes it's not there all the time. Any help or pointers is much appreciated thanks in advance.

From you're "tink" description, I would say u-joint.

On level ground chock both sides of the rear tires, put truck in neutral (not running) crawl under and grab the drvshft, twisting back and forth, you should be able to hear the "tink" and be able to find which u-joint it is.

Small tink sound update, I was changing my carrier bearing the other day, while the driveline was on the bench a small rock fell out of the carrier bearing Assy. That was the noise that was making the tink sound, so anyway that's it thanks again for the replies.
