Going to try and go out for Stripers in the morning. Small craft warnings are up for most of the day. We will play it by ear and make the call at 5:00. We'll fish around some rock piles inside the harbor if we go. Wind is supposed to kick up in the morning so maybe we'll get a couple hours in.

Got a re-cert for a rock climbing this morning. Good for another 3 years. At least I don't have to climb anymore, just make sure the young folk are safe.

Jim, I can't imagine the humidity to make the 89° feel like 104°, that is insane.

    congratulations!

It's soupy! The Dew point is 77*. I've been out working in it for many summers. In a way it's healthy if you pace your self. These conditions make for some intense thunder storms. Lightning hit last week next to our shop and started a fire. Good thing Fire Rescue is close! I'm looking forward to the first cool front in 17 weeks from now!! :D

i partly agree with that statement. i worked for 17 years bymyself and thought wow how great would it be to be oart of a team. when i was put in a team situation with other people's bs to deal with i realized how good i'd had it. in my part time job i do retail specialty work and enjoy (for the most part) dealing with the customers. as i'm realizing that my body isn't going to hold up alot longer doing what i do professionally i'm kinda grasping at straws to find something to finish out my working life that isn't quite so hard on my body. like you i'm sure i've only really done 1 profession since i left the service i don't really know anything else. i just kinda thought a position like a service writer in a body shop may be a healthy compromise

Went to finish the clutch install (Miata) and discovered the u-joints in both ends of the driveshaft are shot. Non-rebuildable. Nothing like a month long clutch swap while you wait for parts.

Weather here is sticky, but at least we're getting thunderstorms. We can use the rain, and I love me some natural fireworks. Cats could do without the noise, though.

Unfortunately I'm in the same boat. I am very good at what I do. And I make no bones about it. I have a skill most people can't comprehend. They think they know. im suppose to be God with a Chrystal ball. My body is failing also.
I'm out back for a reason. I'll tell you where to go and your full of crap if you piss me off by your stupidity. For those out front that deal with this stuff I am humbled by their ability.
If you can do this then your a better person than I could ever be.
I'm starting to think along the switch job idea myself. No idea what or how yet but yanking wrenches another 5 to 7 years will put me in my grave. When the house is paid off I'll start thinking seriously about it. Just remember. People are getting worse. Dealing with them will always be harder and harder.
    Of course it's my opinion.

Your opinion that a lot of folks will agree with, me included. People have been given too much "good job", etc..... so it has to be my way.....

This is exactly why I am the middle of the house......people breaking their cars and claim warranty :annoyed: I have had 4 race cars/ Challengers and Chargers with cracked facias to "moved" exhaust............Because it was "built" that way.....

THEN my dumba$$ writers ask why not just "comp it" :brianr:

Exactly why I will retire"Driving" and NOT at a dealership.....I have a funny feeling:fenforcer: Monday afternoon will be about me checking my "tongue" and the answer will always be...."NO and I know where the door is"......somehow the balls DO NOT grow big enough with management to say bye-bye because work rate is up,comebacks are down and I could give 2 $hits on writers CSI's :yay:
My bonu$ check cashes well every 10th of the month...

but your opinion is accurate and well placed. 1 of my biggest fears in life is retiring and kickin it shortly there after. i've seen it happen too many times. i just don't really know how to do much of anything other than what i do. when the house is paid for in about a year and a half it'll free up some options i hope. i've even thought of starting my own buisness but don't think i want those headaches. hell it'll all work out 1 way or another

I was building up a good rant ... then you covered everything in your second post same subject.

People ARE getting worse ... there's a cultural change happening and it scares me and makes me madder than hell all at once. :frusty:

I agree with you Rob. People today feel like they're entitled to everything, no one is held accountable for anything. It is a true "hooray for me and the hell with you" society.

I'd like nothing more than to leave this job in the rear view mirror and start up another business on my own. I was self employed (carpenter) for quite a few years. Did well at that. Also started a mowing business where I did contract road right-of-way mowing. That got rolling and another contractor offered me big $$$ to sell my equipment AND contracts to him. Personally, I'm glad THAT chapter is behind me too. Made good money, but worked 18 hours a day, 6 days a week from April thru October. There has to be a balance where you can enjoy life too.

Long story short, I just don't think I have the energy level it takes to run a business any more. Health is getting better, but I don't see me returning to my 20's again....

If I ever do change careers again, it will DEFINATELY be to something that does NOT involve dealing with managing employees. I'm thinking about becoming a stripper!
