Like many, I want to get rid of my chrome grill, and I'm holding off plast-dipping it... I'd prefer a long term solution.
Just sucks most cool grills come from the states, and cost around $450US.

Anyone here know of options that are not more then $400CAD, and not just the plain mesh style?
The BAMF grill looks amazing, but the wait on it is a brutal 12 weeks, and costs $440US plus shipping...ugh! DB Customz is over $550US. The Toyota SR oem grill is over $400.

Honestly, you've already answered your question.

Plasti-Dip is the most affordable AND you can peel it off and not have to try and sell a chrome grille or visa versa.

Yeah, I have, but plasti-dip is way harder to remove the smaller the application. The larger the easier it peels off. I did dirt bike plastics and had to re-do a couple of sections. The larger section peeled off with ease. A smaller section didn't come off as easy.

I plasti-dipped the wheels on my 2013 wrangler. From what I researched, the more layers/thicker layers of plasti-dip you have, the easier it is to peel off. I applied about 1 can of plasti-dip per wheel. 11 months later, I easily removed the plasti-dip by soaking Goo Gone on it for about 10 minutes, then spraying it with a garden hose and hand held spray nozzle. It left only small flakes sporadically. I used a pressure washer and it immediately cleared out the rest of the remaining flakes.

I know the mesh in the grill is a smaller surface area than 17" wheels, but you should still get the same results with a thick application, Goo Gone, and a pressure washer. Did the smaller areas maybe not get as thick of an application as the parts with the bigger surface area?

Having said all of that, I'd question the longevity of plasti-dip on a grill where bugs, grime and dirt constantly hit. Cleaning that would have to be a nightmare. I'm gonna go with a SR grill at some point.

What type of grill are you looking for?

I really like just mesh ones. Customcargrills.com are like around $50 usd. And then if you want to add the toyota letters comes to around $100 plus shipping
