Since you're on the fence, I'd say just keep it asis for now or maybe just start with one thing at a time. Remember, you can always put mudflaps, airdam, badges, stock lighting back in yourself. Heck you could probably even re-vinyl the pillars yourself if you took your time. Your truck isn't going anywhere soon, so take your time and have fun with it.

Just a recommendation to anyone wanting to do this. Make sure the black wrap is not overheated by the sun when you take it off. It took me over an hour to get the adhesive residue off because of it.

2nd gen owner here looking for the part no. for the 3rd gen black vinyl pillar appliqué...

I really like the way it looks and what it does to the window lines, I'm aware I can buy generic 3M vinyl and cut it myself, but since the door sheet metal is nearly unchanged in the pillar area from gen2 to gen3 I'd rather just buy the part and apply it, anyone have access to determine part no.?

IMO it looks SO much better with it on. If it came without I would definitely add it. gives a nice consistency to the windows

I have a white DC. Probably going to leave the vinyl pillars for now but, IMO, it looks good either way. I know this will offend some but I think all that Tacoma badging crap on the doors looks like crap (including the SR5 emblems). Toyota pretty well lets people know the model of the truck by the imprint on the tailgate. I've stated this before but the emblems are affixed with double sided tape which holds moisture after a wash or rain plus are a PITA to wax around. I debadged immediately when I got my truck home and removed the stupid (dealer or distributor installed) grey pin stripe. The pin strip was actually more difficult to remove (time wise) than the badges.

After seeing how scuffed up mine is getting, I'm glad I kept it on there.

Thanks for the great pics guys.

I can honestly say I like it both ways. Mostly just annoyed that there's vinyl there at all!
