New to me truck has the JBL system in it. The subwoofer is obnoxiously loud and overpowering even with bass setting turned down to -5. Is there anyway to fix this?

Unfortunately there isn't a lot of adjustments on the JBL system. You could take the sub out all together if you don't like it. I am shocked that it's too much. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say the JBL was too much bass.

    Good luck!

Honestly not sure if it's the JBL subwoofer or not. Maybe I should inspect more closely. It doesn't look like any of the photos on google but does appear to have the speaker in the same location. I assumed it was the JBL with a cover over it but could be something different hiding behind the cover.

It's very very loud. Can't use any of my mirrors with volumes over 30 or so. Everything else on the truck appears to be factory.

    The mystery deepens.

I have the same issue but it's actually more than just the sub woofer. The overall bass management is not very good. The front speakers have way to much bass for their application.

Try setting your bass and mid gain down all the way. Turn volume up to your max listening level. Adjust bass and mids until it's enough for you.

That's about all you can do with stock.

Not sure how easy it would be to install but you could get a crossover coil and set the crossover point of the sub really low, around 25 or something. That would roll off all the bass above 25, effectively reducing the output.

I did some poking around yesterday. It appears this issue is isolated to the AUX input. Radio and CD inputs have normal flat EQs. I went into spotify on my phone and reduced the 60hz channel to level things out.
