Wife will begone for two weeks and I got 2500 to put a new lift on. Want a new leaf pack and new everything up front what should I get. Need to order today as to get it asap and start installing in the evenings. Adam I'm going to need som help. I want a big leaf pack and was looking at the Dakar expo but want something sexy and beefy up front.

 

I got the OME 3" lift with 90000 series shocks and 886 coils and dakars. It came with everything needed and then I also got wheel spacers. After shipping I paid around $1600.

I wish I could have afforded the new BP-51s. From what I hear tho those shocks are on back order. (Not sure if it's changed but just a heads up)

 

You can get fox 2.5 for that price.

 

1. Go with a fox set up or something similar instead of the OME coilovers
2. You aren't factoring in brake lines or ubolts for the rear
3. If you're going to be towing shit and with that bedrack always back there, I'd look at the weight handling characteristics of the dakars vs. the AP expos.

 

I love my kings up front and they have a better coating than fox's for salts on the road. My icons weren't bad either and they did pretty good with the road salts.

 

I just towed a trailer 1700 miles through mountains and all with my dakars and they did great. Had about 3000 lbs in the 6' by 12' trailer.

 

Go for it. We need a local BP51 guinea pig.
My Dakars with OME Sport shocks have done pretty well anytime I've hauled stuff. And they're still reasonably comfortable on the road empty. The only time I've been concerned was hauling that load of firewood to LBL this year but they ended up doing fine then too.

Would you do that drive again? It looks really pretty out there.

 

I'd definitely do it again. It was a lot of fun, and makes for a good way to spend a day. Not rough on a vehicle, and like you said really nice scenery.

 

Maybe if you get some free time this week? I need something to do that's fun but easy from Wednesday through Friday lol.

 

I'm working on my dad's kitchen remodel all week. I did all the demo last week. No idea when I'll be able to get down there again. It would also be very difficult to do without a co-driver to navigate. At least until I've done it a few times.

 

That's cool. Was worth a shot. I'll probably just end up out in LBL wondering the trails out there this week.

 

Have an escape plan, those FS roads can get hairy quick. Although they shouldn't be too wet now.
