Hey guys. I'm hoping someone can clear something up for me. If this topic has been discussed please put a link as I can't seem to find any answers.
I wanted to figure out if the 2016 Tacoma comes with hids. They look brighter then the previous generations. I know they have projector housings. But I wanna know is it an HID or just a regular head light bulb. And if not then do you need the ballast and all those ugly wires to make it compatible.
    Thanks in advance.

The lights in the 3rd gen are better than any previous Tacoma, but they are not HID.

Fortunately, they do have projector housings, so installing an HID kit is easy.

Like said above they're halogens out of the factory and HID kits are easy to install. I run the Morimoto HID kit and I love them.

The typical kit will have bulbs and ballasts. My personal preference for color temperature is 4300K. Any higher and the light doesn't "penetrate" as well.

do you need to change the ballast or can you just replace the halogens with HID bulbs?

Most HID bulbs require a ballast. Your truck currently does not have ballasts, since your bulbs are halogen. The ballasts will come with the HID kit.

Call xenondepot and they'll get you everything you need. You're going to want to upgrade your high beam bulbs at the same time, and they'll help you pick bulbs that will match up with your new HID bulbs.
