Or if you can take it off and dry it in a garage... Definitely don't want it to get mildew

 

Unfortunately not.

It got real dry during the day. It should be good, it was a good 5 hours in 80* weather before I put it away.

and Ill just set it up tomorrow to be 200% sure.

 

I'm about to go RTT. I would like to see a pic of this unicorn fairing, please!

Posted this in another thread as well but figured some Tepui people might be around here. Cvt and arb look similar?

I picked up a Tepui awning over the weekend and got it all mounted up. Question is does everyone trust their awnings mounted by just these four m6 bolt heads?

 

My CVT Fanout anwing has been mounted with the four bolts for the past 7 mounths. I haven't had any problems.

 

It looks a little sketchy but it's just how these bad boys mount. If you're worried about it pulling out, you could fab up some sort of lateral clamp that would keep the extrusion from "flexing" open and allowing the head to pull out. Probably overkill, but whatever helps you sleep at night.

 

Thanks for easing my mind. Ya I figured there are thousands of people running these. Just couldn't get my mind off of it. @techride thats a good idea. Might look into that later on so I'm not thinking about it when on rougher roads.

 

I think along similar lines as you do, and for a similar application switched to m8 hardware and ground it for an EXACT fit. I'm a machinist by trade and super anal about that sort of thing. It feels nicer tightening nuts onto t-slot bolts that have virtually no play.

 

Good idea with M8. Saw your in BC?I'm down in San Diego but I have a house up there. In Powell River. I head up that way every summer and when I can throughout the year. Rigging up my new 3rd Gen for a trip up there this August.

 

Powell river is a quaint little town. I pass through it once a year on my way to the gf's family cabin at bliss landing. That's about an hour past Powell river and 20 mins past Lund. Are you guys on the water? Lots of American ownership in that area.

 

As mentioned yesterday, I was getting the Kukenam Ruggedized XL installed. Put it up today in some pretty nasty wind to see how it would go and it did fine. Road trip starting next week, the wife and I will be sleeping good.

There a good 1.5 - 2" between the shark fin and the bottom of the tent. I do with the rack was a little bit lower, looks like they are on stilts.




I didn't realize the rain fly used two rods per side. I had the door propped open with two of them here.

 

Did a little Eastern Sierra run this past weekend.



And of course, deployed...

 

Ya Powell River is great. Has changed a lot over the years! We are on the water about halfway between the Saltery Bay ferry and Powell River. My family is originally from Vancouver and we've had a place up there since 1913. Parents live up there most of the year. Some great logging roads linking the lake systems in the area to explore.

I have looked and searched and looked some more... Is there a short video somewhere showing the opening and/or closing of the Tepui awning? I want to see how hard/easy it is, storage, etc...

 

There are a bunch. Search "Tepui" on youtube.

 

That's what I'm telling you... I've already searched. It's all tents. I can't seem to locate one that shows just the setting up of the awning...
