So I've owned my '06 Tacoma for nearly 2 years. I'm to the point where tires need to be replaced- and I'm planning on replacing the stock wheels at the same time (looking at SCS- Stealth Custom Series rims.). Struggling to find good information on how big I can go for rims/wheels. Currently no life on the truck. How much does that range change if I put a 2.5-3" lift on the truck?

I have a similar QUESTION but very specific in what not to get than what to get. I have 2007 TRD OR DC and want to upgrade the tires and rims with 5100's and get about 2.5 inch of life with out doing all the stuff needed for 3 inch ( diff drop etc.) I have the bushwacker pocket fenders installed and painted with factory 16inch rims I want the fuel beast rims and not sure of the off set to buy I think the options ate like 0 or 1 and 12mm offset or -12 mm offset. I don't want to screw with the speed/ accelerations gearing etc of the truck if possible and just need a decent tire size that will help with the look of the truck but with minimal add'l mods...??? Example 285-60-17 or 265 -70-17 ... just want the tire and rims to fit the wholes of the new fenders...thinking about bf ko2's for tires.

Largest tire you can fit regardless of 0-3" lift is 265/70R17 or 265/75R16. Anything larger and you may have to do some cutting.

Correct. Any bigger than this and you will need to not only remove mud flaps, but also trim your fenders, add wheel spacers if you went wider, cut and cap your cab mount, and possibly further trim your fenders. Simply lifting your truck higher will not fix these problems, unless you do a 6" drop bracket lift that gets all those things well out of the way. Those are expensive, somewhat impractical and not to mention irreversible. Unless you have a ton of money your you REALLY wheel your truck, do yourself a favor and stick to the aforementioned size (s).

Also, little thing called Google helps. Though I'll admit I found this site through one of the already established threads here. Has a bunch of different calculators for tire size, comparisons in stance with different offsets, etc. Should be a bit helpful to give you an idea of difference from stock for you.

Awesome that helps a ton. Yeah the mud flaps had to go when the bushwacker pocket fenders were installed gives me a little more coverage than stock even without mud flaps. I thought I had previously read that I could do 285 didn't know I still had to cut...wheel spacers was not an option because I believe it puts extra wear on bearings and after recently replacing one I don't want to keep repeating that nightmare. Had to pull it apart with a vise and pulley puller. Totally got it makes spending hard earned money once! Thanks again guys!
