    Howdy Faces.
Had the rare pleasure of talking to 6 different bosses this morning (at separate times) about a job I've been working on. They were all full of ideas on how we could do it (and they were all the same ideas), and wanted to know the progress I've made so far, but didn't actually listen to the response before they stressed the importance of what I'm doing (it's really not that important, honestly)

Might be time to start searching for a new job; I'm approaching this scenario:

Well... if you don't ignore the important memos, you could avoid that scenario altogether. :)

Shrug. This is contacting a list of customers in the Rochester NY area because we're seeing less business from them in 2016 vs in 2015. They bigwigs want me to spend hours and hours calling to find out why, when the answer is that the winter of 2016 was a kitten compared to the winter of 2015. Every store I've talked to says that their spring business is about the same as always but that they didn't sell crap for tires in Jan or Feb because there just wasn't any snow.
Sometimes I think the bosses get too worked up about stuff that's beyond our control. We have a lousy winter and they get it into their heads that we're doing something wrong. Everybody I've talked to so far has been happy with the company's service, they just aren't busy.

    :notsure:

It's the same thing here. Our business obviously does much better when we have bad weather but for some reason the big wigs think were not doing enough to create business. All the while they keep increasing our pricing. Difference between us and you is that a lot of our customers are not happy with us. Higher prices, longer lead times, product not as good and such. Man I need a new job!

    Good luck!

That's how I got my current position. Without knowing VP of finance recommended me and the interview process was so informal. Just had to go through the motions.

That's similar to our Boston market, actually. Lot of competition there so anytime there's a price increase the customers scream bloody murder and threaten to switch vendors. And so of course there's lots of backstabbing among the vendors, lol.

Fortunately not. I don't hate my job, but I do dislike having so many managers. They spend a lot of time telling me how to do my job even though they haven't done my job since the 90's.

    What division?

Meh. Not that there's not enough Indians, but there are a lot of chiefs.

My company has resorted to just creating lower level chief spots for people who don't really fit into the indian vs chief role. It takes me 45 minutes to get a replacement screw now because of the 'process' of getting approvals to release new products for replacement, then to scrap the old part... Nevermind if it breaks off and I need to machine it out....

Sounds like my immediate boss to a T. He's been with the company long enough that they don't want to just fire him, but his job was eliminated last year. So instead they plugged him into a 'supervisor' role that he's terrible at without training him at all. So he's got no idea how to do his job, he doesn't understand the systems or processes that we use, and he's not assertive enough to actually manage people. As a result he's got very little respect from anybody in here.

But, you know the old saying. "Those who can't work, teach. And those who can't teach, supervise"

My company did something similar except, instead of adding lower level chief spots, they kept the chief spot but added super chief, director super chief, executive director super chief, ultimate chief, super ultimate chief, etc. So everyone who got promoted to chief, now realizes they just got a watered down position and when they look up they still have the same view of hindsides they had before.

My company was purchased by a larger one. After merging, they decided to layoff the IT group and outsource support. Here's the kicker - the computers and software are serviced by one company, network by another, IP phones by a third, copiers/printers by a fourth. In order to get any help you have to put in a ticket for service. It then has to be approved by a bean counter and then goes to the computer service group how decides if it is theirs or one of the other support groups. I needed to have a computer moved about 75 feet. It required 4 tickets and 3 months to get it working.
