Hey guys. Got a 2000 tacoma last month and noticed a led velcroed to the plastic near the hood release. Pulled some plastic and tracked the wire back to a power supply, some sort of chip, and a hoop thing that wraps around the key tumbler. It sort of resembles an rf antenna.
I asked the previous owners and they do not recall there being a security system. But these people are in their 80's. So who knows.
I will try to attach some pics.

I also want to do the 12 volt always on mod to the cigarette lighters. I can find many threads linking to the directions. But none of the links work anymore. Hoping to bypass the relay on the fuse box, if it's possible with a 2000.

    Thanks for any info.

Well it's definitely not stock, not even a factory added option.

Do you have the remote for the system? If not, are you using a stock remote system? If not, I'd just rip that shit out.

Thanks for the replies. I don't have the remote or anything. The truck came with a worn out key that i took to the dealer and had them look up the key code. The truck starts just fine.

I will remove it if i can't make it work. Hey Ryan, what does the key fob or whatever it is look like?
    Googling karr now.

Anyone know about the full time 12v mod? I would prefer to bypass the relay instead of running new wire, or cutting existing wire.

    Thanks
