Well 2016 has been a rough year, I work in the oilfield and got laid off for a few months and grateful to be employed and busy again after so many people have been laid off due to oil prices since 2014.

During the lay off I traded my 2012 Tundra Crewmax 4x4 for a 2011 Tacoma Single Cab Base 4x4. I needed the cash to keep the family alive and didn't take on any unemployment money while looking for a new job. Yes Tundra was loaded, all options and 380 hp versus the 168 hp Tacoma. I really am enjoying it actually, only thing I wish it had as far as options that it don't is cruse control. It gets about 5-8 mpg better than the tundra (19-21 mpg), and I really enjoy that I can fit it in my garage when I'm home and do work on it inside (Tundra was a little too long for that...).

I'm really enjoying the TacomaWorld.com forum's help for the mods I can do to get this Tacoma improve a little I already took out the charcoal filter and put a K&N Air filter in and did the intermittent wiper modification. I used forum suggestions and got spring nuts to adapt to T Track to make tie down points, add quickfists, and mounted my hi jack. Since I work in the middle of nowhere I installed my Wilson Electronics phone amplifier kit that I had already. It came with a 2.5" leveling kit installed on the front and offset rims with stock 245 Michelin LTs.

Next mod would be cruise control. Then do a 3" suspension lift. Then add 285x75x16 BFG All Terrains on the offset rims it came with.

    My old Tundra

My new Tacoma; Traded it in Dallas, about 500 mile drive home. It came with a soft top cap and I don't like it too much. I'm blind in my left eye and I thought I was gonna die as it created a bit more of a of a blind spot than I expected..

Took the cab off and I like the looks.

Made a few brackets to for my quickfists for a shovel, hi jack, and some tie down points with spring nuts.

My daily driver now. 570 miles from home...

Looking good brother! Good on you for making the most of a difficult situation. Life comes with its ups and downs, nothing we can do to stop that, it's how we react that shows our character.
I'm downsizing from a GMC crew cab Sierra 1500 and too am enjoying my little Tacoma. Fun trucks and the modding is endless!
