Hey NorCal folks. I'm in a bit of a crossroads. Either embark on totally beefing up my 04 Taco or sell it to fetch a down payment on a 2017. Before I start really spending some coin on the truck I figure I'd throw it on the Classifieds and CL just to see if I get any movement.

I'm new on the forum and pretty much to the Taco world so I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to specifics of the truck. It's been my workhorse and the high mileage is mainly Freeway miles as I was stationed in San Diego for a large part of my first enlistment in the Corps. Drove it to Fremont almost every week. Runs strong and absolutely no mechanical issues. Body is nearly perfect with the exception of some bumps and bruises. See the pics and judge for yourself.

As in the underbody? I'll take some and post them in a bit. I'm almost 99.9% sure there no rust or damage. The truck has never been abused or taken off road. A a Bimmer guy so this thing really has been neglected. Primarily use it now to transport the Harley

Mind if i ask how much you got for it? I'm always curious to know how much these first gens fetch with higher mileage. Looking forward to seeing pics of your 2017!

I got it for a cool 7k. Happy with the outcome. Felt like the little 4banger had a decent amount of life left, but it was time to part ways. Both sides happy.

And me too man. It's scary looking at those 2017 prices. I have to do my best to not just pull the trigger on a cheaper earlier model. The new gens look sexy as hell tho

Nice! $7k for a truck with 300k miles is great, especially a 4 banger. Its a proven bulletproof little motor though. These first gens hold their value so well. I boight my'04 in March with 24,000 on the odometer for $17k.

You going to go v6 with the new truck?

honestly have no clue. Im fiddling around with the Tundra as well. Whatever I get has to have legit 4 doors tho. I'll play everything else by ear. I never really took advantage of the 4x4 on the tacoma so it may be something I can live without. Also not sure about engine size, but since I'm upgrading I might as well shoot for the stars right . =)
