There is a low coming down from AK this weekend though and it's supposed to cool us off some.

Soo I think my sub may have blown. Was driving home from work this morning and had music playing. Nothing crazy loud and then it stopped "thumping" and now "rattles" or emits a static sound. Anyone know what this means? I don't have a clue when it comes to speakers and such.

No big updates. Hit 500 miles of driving a few days ago so changed the oil in the 3rd and tcase. Nothing abnormal except for all the tranny fluid still in the tcase. Wasnt a lot just enough to notice it. Also trimmed the cab so the tires rub less. They still rub but going wheeling tomorrow at a more rockcrawling place and will see how bad bad is. May have to pony up and do the cab mount chop... Still having a lot of fun driving it though. Should get the bed box done sometime next week.

Not my greatest picture but a little bit of what the cab/fender look like. Actually cut into the cab on 3 sides then tapped it back. Used some rtv and sealed it back up. Will paint it once I decide how much more to trim.

Did have a oh sh!t moment. Was hitting to far out on the fender and ended up pushing the fender into the door... Got it pulled back out but was pretty scary when the door wouldnt open.

No I pulled it out and it smelt like something was burning/melting. One of the wires/coils? inside of the sub is all frayed. Still compresses fine though. Was going to take it to an audio shop and see if they say anything. Any ideas?

Yeah I don't know anything about that kind of the stuff. One of the few things I paid someone to do. Going to redo my box anyways and take out the driver side bench and put a storage box there and will incorporate the sub in there someone.

    Rocky Gap Road/Potato Rock Road
    June 18, 2016

After checking the truck and changing most the fluids since break in was done, I was ready to hit a more challenging trail and put the truck to a real test. For fathers day, my dad and I headed to a local trail that was sure to test the truck and I. Rocky Gap road starts near Pahrump and goes through a pass and ends in Red Rock National Park. At one point, the road was maintaned but after several heavy rains and lots of wash outs, it is no longer. When doing this trail, you have two options: Run the dirt road up through the canyon or the boulder infested wash. Obviously we choose the wash and it was quite hard. We started at 9 and didnt get to the top of the wash and back on the road till around 11 (about a 2 mile wash). No real issues besides my dad getting hung up on a rock and I had trouble making the last climb out of the wash since it was soft loose dirt and had a pretty good sized rock in the middle I kept getting hung up on. I learned a lot and had a blast. Truck did great and can no longer be called a mall crawler. Axles dragged a few times, skid didnt get touched till the last hill, steps/sliders got put to use and wheels are all rock rashed now. No body damage besides the body seam above the steps got caught once. No big deal though. Truck did great and made it up everything. Glad I got the 4.7 tcase and the 2.28 crawl box as the 4.7 was perfect for most things since the 2.28 was just a little to fast. And just for the heck of it, put the truck in double low and it crawlerd over everything.

Overall, it was a good trail and look foward to doing it again. Definitely need some half doors as I had a hard time seeing out the doors. And best part was I needed to winch my dad off the rock he got high centered on.
    Toyota-1, Jeep-0.

Im sure that score will change real quick though.

Sorry about the pictures, something was on the lense so all the sides are fuzzy....

Looks like a fun trail! I definitely want to try that out some day if you think it's possible for a little truck like mine haha

Most definitely. Can go around a lot of the big stuff in the wash or just hop on the road and bypass small sections. You can make the wash as hard or easy as you want. Probably be one of my go to trails. Always changing with rain. And has some real hard stuff.

Yeah more of a Johnson Valley/koh trail. Few spots if your not careful could cause body damage and there's a waterfall at the end that my dad has only seen a trailered buggy go up. But we took one of the turnouts before it. May try it when I get my half doors and someone to winch off of the top. :spy:

Nice. I forget KOH is only a few hours away. Might have to check it out next year...

Hmm, I like waterfalls. I'll make sure the camera's running if I'm there to see you try that haha

KO2s did really good. Didn't give me any problems and had traction over most the rocks. Only slid off the the slippery ones lol.

SAS.... well. Let's just say it's not no mall crawler anymore. And all the hard work, money, and time was well worth it. I had a blast and the truck actually surprised me with how it did. Talked my buddy with the Cherokee in going on Friday and can't wait!

    Rocky Gap Road
    (06/23/2016)

Mad another trip up to Rocky Gap Road with 3 of my friends from school. First buddy is the guy with the gold xj and the other has a red tj. Both mostly stock with minor lifts and 31" tires. And the final friend rode with me since he has a little 5 lug 2007. We met at Dunkin Donuts on Friday around 930 and where on the road by 945 making our way to the trail head. When we got there, we aired down, caught up and got on our way. This time, I aired down to a true 15psi and the ride was incredible. Seriously impressed with these KO2s.

We made our way up the trail to the first wash. We all decided we would give it a try and after some spotting and them dragging some diffs and axles, we made it through. They both had open diffs with stock gearing and manuals so they struggled a little but did really well with how hard the trail got at times. They both bypassed the next part since it was pretty hard and then my buddy with the red tj joined me for the 3rd part. With some "good" driving and some hard hits, he made it through some of the tougher lines. After he got back on the main trail, he had clunk in the front end so bypassed the wash for the rest of the day as well as the xj since he was struggling pretty hard. The clunk ended up being his sway bar popping off the axle for whateever reason. reason. I made it through the rest of the wash with minor issues and getting hung up less than last time. Did end up sliding off a rock and the bed side tagged a rock... Little bummed but it happens and may try to pop it out. I made it to the last hill and on my second attempt mae it up the hill with no problems. Which is good considering it took me 10 or so tries last time. From there, we stayed on the trail and went through the last two rock gardens till we decended into Red Rock National Park.

Both the jeeps ended up getting stuck as they in one of the lst sections when they lifted so broke out the treds and they got out no problem. ANd we made it out of the wash after the tj decided to take a pretty hard line and almost rolled it. He was interesting for sure. The xj also had problems with his sway bar and ended up removing it before we went back down. We made it down no problems and aired back up. It was nice since the xj had a cb and made talking on the trail and going to the trail easy and nice.

All in all, another fun filled trip and cant wait tfor my first camping trip with the truck this coming weekend for the 4th.

Put the tent back on last night and made my way into the garage to start on my storage box for the bed. Was close to 115 today but the garage wasnt to bad. Got it bent and all welded up except for the last part of the hinge and the angle iron itll be bolted to. Will start grinding it tomorrow while the grinding table is in the shade.

(Started as 4 pieces of flat sheet metal)
