You really answered your own question while asking it. People value the look more than a lot. The rollover isn't much of an issue unless you are driving the truck like a corvette. Vibration and handling issues are rare, and avoidable if the job is done well (I.E. not skimping on necessary parts like the UCA's and carrier bearing dealy when going 3" or higher). Overall, on average the biggest issue you will see is about 1 MPG difference, which isn't much. If you can afford that and have a look you love on the truck, go for it. You live with the vehicle for years, you should enjoy every aspect of it you can.

It's all subjective. It improves the look to most people's eyes. As I said above, if you have to live with it for years, make it look best to your eye. Toyota puts millions into R&D, but the modification companies that make lifts etc also do research. I had an old coworker who said the same, "they made the car the best it could be, modifying makes no sense." If it wasn't enjoyable, and offered zero benefit, the aftermarket companies would fail.

In reality, Toyota made the best compromise they could with suspension. Price/reliable/comfortable. With so many different uses for the truck and personal preferences, stock is not always the best for people.

I never said the stock components are the best components made. Everything is a built to a price point. There is no denying that you are going to get worse gas mileage, the higher centre of gravity will effect handling, acceleration time will be longer, you "may" end up with vibrations, you "may" end up wearing out front diff needle bearings. I could go on. If you need the lift for off road use then great. Go for it. If your doing it because it looks good and all you do is drive around on the street. So be it but I will not understand why anyone would accept all the negatives just for the "look at me in my little big ass truck".

oh....and sorry about the spelling mistake. Like I give a f@%k.

Here's my $.02. Figure out what your absolute max budget is. Put more emphasis on the front as there are more components to deal with and its a lot easier to do it right in the first place. As far as the rear goes you can do a block or aal and upgrade it to a full leaf pack a lot easier in the future without much effort/ financial loss. A complete adjustable coil over is the best and most expensive option (and there's lots of them) followed by the bilstein 6110. If you stay below 2.25-2.5" of lift the stock uca is ok but not optimal. Total chaos, camburg or icon uca are all about the same and will help you align the vehicle better especially if you go over 2.5". I left well enough alone for many years and suddenly was bit by the bug and don't regret it. Mines set at 2.5" w/ 1.5" aal on 33's. Good luck!

Looking for help to guys sorry to piggy back
On your thread man but I can give advice and would love some.

I am sole owner of my Tacoma. Factory lift SR5 4x4. I started with wider wheels and then A/T same size as factory 16" with 245. Then I put a 3" ready lift space space up front with a 2" block in back. Factory shocks. Then I went full overhaul. Took off front space for BS5100 and fabtech UCA and 285 tiers and a slightly wider 16" wheel, and BS5100 in rear. Now I am looking to do the new recall leaf springs and take out that two inch block for a Wheelers AAL in place of it. Hope that helps you, let me know if you have any questions.

Also not sure if you made a decisoin sorry I didn't read all the post.

My help needed is is that a good decision for my rear??

Can't believe I'm debating with a "low tech red neck". Shame on me for that.

If you lift your truck just 3 inches then nothing but the appearance changes, except handling but that depends on how you lift your truck...

Is there a kit that comes with the Bilstein 5100's , 885 coils and 1.5" AAL together?

Yeah there are a lot kits with everything you'll need. I can't give you any links to them but if contact a vendor on here they'll help you put a kit together with everything you'll need, and even save you a couple hundred bucks.

What state/area do you live in? I was pretty clueless and was looking for a site to buy a kit from and Marie from @HeadStrong Off-Road in cali, answered all my questions and got me a good deal on an awesome kit with super quick shipping to my house.

This is not the way to answer questions and deal with other members.
The only way to gain clearence is with bigger tires, the only way to fit them is with a lift. The only rule on the second gen is keep it at 3" or the driveline may have issues. Blocks and spacers will achieve this but stress out components, not the laws of physics.

I gave an honest opinion on why a lift should not be considered if the truck is only used on the street. Some members don't really like to hear that they may have spent money on modifications that have no benifit other than gratifying their ego. They lash out and I defend.

It would be grand if the conduct rules on this forum were actually enforced. It one of the most agumentive form I've experienced. Insults and bad conduct are the norm.

Again, your opinion is not what is being called out, it is the comments towards other members. Please stop.

If you feel that way, then report it to a mod they won't see it otherwise.
