Does anyone have a picture of the underside of an OE roof rack? I got a 40" light bar mount that rivets to the OE rack but I am wondering if there is enough room to put a backing plate in so its not just riveted to plastic.

So, looking at the brackets. Neither one fits flush with the roof rack. Left side bracket is visibly twisted and has a 1/4" gap on one end when held to the rack. The right side has a 1/8" gap. None of that will be an issue.
What I am debating is placement. As designed, the light bar will be over the windshield. I am thinking about moving them back, and cutting them to fit so the light bar will be further back.

I ended up moving it back a little over an inch. Next step is to pull the light back off, pull the roof rack off, trim the mounts, and install the mounts back to the rack with stainless nuts & bolts with fender washers for backing plates.

Not sure on the 560w part. I'll see what the panels are labled when I pull it apart to seal it.

Sorry for the crappy pics. Hard to find a road close by that is straight, unlit, no reflective signs, no houses, and no traffic. So I had to make due with all but the straight part.
    Inside. No lights

    Inside low beams

    Inside high beams w/bar

    Outside no lights.

Ill be ordering a shield for the bar next week to help with the glare on the windshield and hood. Ill probably go out to my property in the middle of the state the month after next and Ill get the final setting done on the bar and shield on a nice straight level piece of road so I can get the distance I want on it.

Hmm. Light bar tested to be a 240w, not a 560w as advertised. Got a refund for the difference between cost of the one I purchased and the 240w that they sell.

Got my visor in and mounted up. Had to toss the 1" spacers it came with an put in 1 7/16 spacers to get it to fit. Welded the spacers on and bolted the visor down with 5 nuts/bolts on each side. I also had to recut the radius on the back to get it to fit nicely up to my bar. I held the visor to the bar and used a marker to trace the radius. Then used a jigsaw and belt sander to cut it to the right shape. Ended up taking about 1/8" off the ends tapered towards the middle.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Starting modifications to prevent the visor from flapping or flipping up. Using 3/16"x2 1/2" aluminum. The extensions will have stacked aluminum welded together at the back which will go into 3 of the gaps in the cooling fins, and will be bolted to the visor. This will effectively lock the visor to the bar, but be removable.
I will also make new side bracket extensions that will bolt to the gap in the mount and to the rear bolt hole in the bar to lock the entire thing into place.

Got the brackets welded together and mounted up. No longer have the glare on the windshield or hood. The visor also got rid of the vibrations in the roof and almost all of the wind noise.
