On my way home tonight, stopped by the Local Honda dealer to check out the new Ridgeline. I was a huge fan of the old one, and was very close to buying one.

I did not drive it, just checked it out.

    What I liked:

    - Interior quality/material/fit/finish was impeccable. One step higher than the Tacoma for sure. The doors shut with a very decisive thump and everything was nice and tight.
    - Seats were super comfortable. I wish the Tacoma had slightly larger seat bases.
    - Love the dual independent arm rests.
    - Bed material is very nice and looks very durable. It felt nothing like Rhino Liner or the like.

    What I didn't like:

    - The rear seat room was much less than the DC tacoma. Sitting on the rear seat props you very high.
    - The rear doors only open to something like 40 degrees. Will make loading things difficult. (think baby carrier)
    - Moonroof only available on the top trims (40K +)
    - Expensive! The trim I would buy RTL-E AWD was $42K+
    - The depth of the bed is very shallow.

Overall, it's a nice ride. Definitely very different than the Taco.

If I didn't have a truck, and $42K in my pocket right now and was in the market, I would still decisively choose the Tacoma.

Nothing about it screams truck. We got a few in the other day, I wasn't impressed. It's good for someone who does mostly highway or city driving and only needs to haul something a few times a year. In my opinion the first gen Ridgeline was more of a "truck" than this newer version. This is more like a crossover pick up lol

It is nice to see more competition coming to the mid-size truck market, but as for the Ridgeline I just couldn't get over how "car-like" it is...especially the front end.

It doesn't scream truck to me either, but it has a bed, can tow, and from what i've seen decent in fire roads.

It's definitely going for a different market segment that the original Ridgeline (which IMO was going after truck buyers)

Was it the car front end or the fact it's got a trunk in the bed, maybe it's got a front wheel drive option. NO TRUCK IS FRONT WHEEL DRIVE.

Your right. After brief consideration nothing really says truck to me except the fact that it had a "bed"

Those are some great little rigs. 50mpg motorized wheelbarrow. I loved my diesel Mk1, it was a great rig and was damn reliable with almost 300k on the clock.
