Hello Tacoma owners. I am looking to downsize from a Silverado 2500 HD Extended Cab 4x4 and I'm 90% sure a Tacoma Access Cab 4x4 is where I want to land. I am hoping the expertise here can help me erase that 10% of uncertainty. Hopefully I will soon be a card carrying Tacoma owner.

Good luck finding your new truck. Was this a question or a statement.

Welcome to the forum. Access cab is great if you don't need to haul people. Those back "seats" aren't very comfortable.

I only need to haul 2 people. Since you brought the subject up, how much bed length do you lose with the quad cab?

    Tacomas come as:

Single cab, 6' bed (these were no longer produced as of 2014)
Extended/Access, 6' bed, same total vehicle length as a DCSB
Double cab, 5' bed, AKA "DCSB"
Double cab, 6' bed, AKA "DCLB"

You either get a 5' bed or a slightly over 6' bed (6'2", I think).

My 2014 DC is a long bed, but most DCs have the bed that is about 1 ft shorter.

    Welcome!

I only haul to people but found the dual cab to be very handy. Short bed is to small IMO, but Toyota didn't offer the "off road" package in a DCLB in 2011.

Secondary air filter removal, K&N drop in, Removed front mud flaps, Toyota all weather matts, skid plate, bug guard. Bilstein 5100's all around fronts set at 2.5", OME add a leaf, Goodyear Wrangler Authority 265/70/17, stubby 6.5" antenna, smoked tail lights, blacked out badges.
Overall the Tacoma is a good truck, but it has a lot of little problems you become familiar with after ownership. You might want to dig deeper and look at some tsb's and member complaints to decide if it is the right truck for you. Remember though. The more you mod the truck the more problems you could potentially have.
