Whats going on fellas, my name is Rusty, NYC Fireman, and brand new to the tacoma game. Just bought a 13 black TRD, and I want to spray the wheels black. Ive done this in the past with a previous vehicle, but the machined looked on the stock rim has me worried the paint won't take well.

What are the steps to spray painting the stock rims a gloss black?

    Thanks guys!

How long does that last, and how well does it hold up? I'm fully committed to the black, and felt regular wheel paint would possibly look better?

    Bone Stock.Why mess with perfection?Except...
Just wondering how "dark chrome" paint with a few coats of gloss or sealant or something would look on the wheels of a black taco. Seems like duplicolor might make the paint. Don't know. Just wondering if anybody has seen it or done it.

I just dipped my stock rims and it came out great. I have a 16 TRD OR. I posted it in a different thread.

I plasti dipped mine and I've had it on about 2 years and it looks great, some spots on the edge of the wheel have signs of peeling, and a few gouges. So if you do decide to go that route I'd suggest using multiple ( >3 ) coats.
It's a good look but I consider it a temporary thing til you can save up and get black wheels, sooner or later it'll look like poo. Just depends on wear and tear.
