Ok so my running tail lights are not working, nor is my licence plate lights, or my interior A/C back lighting when headlights are on. Happened after messing up a Anytime Foglight Mod that was written for a 2012 and i have a 2013.

So everything else works, and after a diag fee at the stealership the tech told me that i am getting power to the junction box for my tail fuse, but i am not getting power out. He said he bypassed the juntion box and ran power around the block and everything light up. He did help a bit by suggesting a few things before go replacing the junction box.

This is the block i believe i am having trouble with...

This is the back of one for a 2002 (im thinking the back will be similar to this one.)

    A) the tech suggested that i remove all extra electrical mods and put the truck back to stock as best as possible. (Explanation why: If a circuit is getting too much power / drawing too much power then the computer will shut off the circuit to prevent further damages. If i put everything back to stock and hard reset the computer (remove ground for 10 minutes) then its possible the circuit will come back)

    B) see if there are any junk yards around that i can pull one from to save some money on a new one. (they are not cheap!)

    So my question is...

    1) anyone have experience with working on these junction boxes?

    2) what tools will i need? (Not really sure i will need more than a socket set, it looks like the back of this is just slots for cable harnesses to plug into, which makes think this will not be the problem)

on rear there's a connector which has a lockdown latch, it's yellow. the other connectors all have a locking tab.

the yellow arrows hold down the cable loom. the center arrow above points to the OBD II connector space.

They are a mixture of the OEM alarm and the 4 pin towing harness instructions.

How long did it take you to replace the junction box?

Nice! I was very concerned at first but then i saw that they wires in the back of this were connected by harnesses. But im curious how they justify this part being $400+ when its just a piece of plastic. There is more plastic and metal on a cold air intake and its half the price!

    Crazy...

it's a fuse holder, relay holder, power distribution block and has an internal computer board...and made for Toyota.

Yeah i see that now.. haha The images for the part number just looks like its just a small piece of plastic with harness connectors slots for fuses. I guess i will find out when i take my truck apart...

Problem is that everything else seems to be working properly except the part that controls the running tail lights, rear licence plate lights, and interior A/C backlights. Other symptoms are.. headlights do not turn off automatically, and the stereo head unit does not dim when i turn the headlights on(night mode).

These are all related to the tail relay and fuse. This is behind the "plastic fuse box". So you'l have to undue all fasteners to get to it.

    upload_2016-6-24_15-31-14.jpg

Now the "Other symptoms are.. headlights do not turn off automatically" is the internal computer board. Do one problem at a time.

Man you are awesome! This is going to be my weekend project this weekend. I got pulled over the other night because my tail lights were not on. Found out my licence is somehow invalid, cop could not tell my why but he did write me a ticket for it! Not for the lights but for the licence.

We will see what legal shield has to say about it. Best $9 a month i could spend
