Still getting that knocking sound

    2002 Toyota Tacoma 4 x 4
    I have put fuel system cleaners in and replaced the spark plugs. The knocking sound is less but it's still running too hot as indicated by the old spark plugs. The gauge still says it's not overheated.
    What would be the next thing to try? Thanks
