Cheap Bumpers on eBay!!

Kind of sounds like their par for the course.

 

All Pro was on Truck U this morning so I guess they are doing ok. They did a Tacoma "build" and used the all pro bumper and pack rack.

 

Actually, I thought that was a little low - that's basically just ten working days - I couldn't design a bumper in ten days... Hell, I probably couldn't design brush guard in ten days...

 

I doubt this will put a dent in their immediate sales. However, if this vendor catches on around TW... well then word of mouth could put a dent in their sales of this model of bumper. I'd also suggest that all other manufacturers could see some sales losses as well. All of this assuming that the bumper is of good quality.

 

I wonder how many will be sold if sub zero or patch or any of the others get theirs and report back good results... I bet a lot of folks will leap over to ebay if pics of a decent quality bumper are posted, regardless of the shady method of getting them advertised.

 

Im 100% confident this ebay seller will come through. Definetly some shady business going on here with AP and all the leads to Cali and the OP. Perhaps even illegal but ill tell you this as a mechanical engineer and designer. I could buy AP or Mobtown or whoevers formed pieces of metal, dimension/measure the thing, make a reverse engineered 3D model, create a few prints for a fab shop in mexico or better yet china. Provide them with the details on welds, materials and those dimensions and get a quote on 20+ bumpers. I could even sell or return those original bumpers back to the vendors. Im fully capable of doing this, morally i wouldnt, and actually pretty confident that this is legal in the realms of design for personal use. Mass selling what i just went through on ebay, now that im not sure is legal without the original designers consent. That original designer if it had intellectual property associated with it could have just leeked his own design. But hondestly whats your products out for sale, its design is also at jeopardy. All speculation and shady stuff but in the end ill have either a box with a AP bumper in it minus the logo or Fedex and the seller are going to be fighting over the cost. Im protected and could easily have these welds tested for there claim of a quality product thats safe with a winch.

On a side note, i did purchase some AP sliders, first thing i did with them was measure them up and model the exact product for my own personal use. Heres just a sample of that model.

Nvm. I found my answer. Seems like the 4 inch rubber coupling is doing the job.

Is it bad that if this thing comes in and the quality is superior as ap, that I would consider selling my arb? Iv been wanting a change but didn't want to get in the hole while doing it.

I still think the bumpers are real and that someone involved in the outsourcing of the allpro bumpers is selling them. Probably one of the welders doing the actual fab decided to make some side money from his garage on the weekends.

Funny thing is AP could probably charge extra for bumpers without a logo..
