I have had my truck since January and never have set this up.

Any reasons to set this app up?

I use it to stream pandora. Outside of that feature, I don't find any of the other 'connected' apps all that useful.

Same. I set it up the other day just to tinker and I use Pandora / IHearRadio but I've not messed with anything else in the app suite.

The entune app couild use some debugging. At times Pandora will start playing right away, and sometimes I need to wait a few minutes. When that I happens, I can see that entune does not connect to the car.

Basically only being used for music apps like Pandora then?

My phone works along with all of my contacts. I do notice that when I have bluetooth on and I'm on the phone I am unable to check emails and the web on my phone.

No need for this app then?

Depending on who you use for cell service, you may not have voice and data capability at the _same_time_ I know ATT and Tmobile allows it.

This has nothing to do with entune, but more of a feature from your cell provider.

If you haven't found a solid reason to use the entune app so far, then you probably don't need it. Like I said, for me it was just pandora.

Makes sense now. I have verizon. It's probably better for me not to be able to drive, talk on the phone, and work on my work emails when I am driving.

As an FYI, you don't need Entune to use Pandora. Just select Bluetooth as your audio source on the head unit.

Yes I can confirm VZW cannot use data while voice is being used. Traditionally it was due to CDMA technical limitations though with LTE (which is based on GSM instead) that should no longer be the case. But with my iPhone 5 from work, it still is but I'm not sure why.

The main reason to have it is that the system can do over the air software updates to the head unit. I would recommend have the entune for this purpose alone if you're not interested in using the entune suite.

Hmmm...I did not realize that. I "assumed" over-the-air updates would work without the app. Anyway, good to know.

The system needs a delivery method to download the data from entune.

Pandora and iHeart are the two main reasons I use it. You can still stream Pandora without it via bluetooth but I find the application on the screen easier to deal with. Yelp is ok too when I'm looking for something different to eat.

I use the fuel app, use the data for my weather and traffic, and use it for updates. The coolest thing is the destination search, you can search a destination on the app, save it, and when you get in your truck, you can call it up as a saved destination.

Yes please. Those around you will be grateful. There's enough distracted drivers on the road as is.

I don't live in an area that has HD Radio. I thought that I could run the weather/yelp apps using the data in my phone and although I have the box "selected" it never seems to work. anyone have insight?

I have Verizon and a stock Nexus 6P. I've noticed that if I'm streaming Pandora using the Entune app and I get a phone call or sometimes a text that the music stops playing through the stereo and starts playing through the phone speakers. The dash controls still control the music, but the sound is coming from the phone. The only way that I found to switch back is to pause the music from the dash, deactivate the blutooth on the phone, reactivate the blutooth, then use the dash controls to start playback.

    It's a cumbersome process while you're driving.
