I changed the MANUAL transmission oil on my truck to MT90. Question is, can too much oil damage the transmission? I'm not talking a huge amount here, I used just shy of 2Qt and the book called for 1.9.

Point. The oil was still running out of the fill hole when I put the plug back on. That's to say is was more then a drip drip drip but obviously not full flow.

Just curious if I should remove the fill plug and let the oil run out until it does become just a drip.

You're fine and overthinking it. Most shops don't wait till it comes to a dead drop.. Overfilled usually requires an extra half to full liter.

Ya your fine. What happens is if it's way over full it churns air in to the oil and cause airration and over heating. Just a little bit does dick all

You are ok up to 1.94 qts. Over 1.95 and you'll regret it. :D

it could blow oil seals if it heats and expands and has no room to do so

As I originally posted, oil was still flowing from the fill hole...much like honey runs out of a squeeze bottle when you hold it upside down. I drove the truck for 30 min, allowed it to cool and removed the fill plug, no oil came out at all. All normal considering a certain amount stays in the transmissions gears.

My question is this, should I top it up?

I know this isn't rocket science but this is the first time I've done this to any of my vehicles and don't know what normal is.
