I know it's fiberglass and not going to be flawless but I have a body shop painting mine and telling me they have primed and blocked and still can't get some waves and imperfections out.

Just looking to hear that others glass is the same or if I got a bad set.

    Mine are Fiberwerx

Rear: Fiberworks fenders, King 14" 3.0 triple bypasses, boxed/braced frame, extended brake lines, 63" chevy leaf springs, U bolt flip kit, TC lower shock mounts. Preformance: URD intake, Doug Thorley headers, Flowmaster 40, 2.5 tubing. Interior: Weather techs, LED's, Double DIn, kicker 10" subs, Kicker componet speakers, Exterior: Method wheels with OMF beadlocks, Custom made bumpers, Retro headlights.
Is there a DIY on prepping fiberglass anywhere? I bought a One piece Engage off road hood and need to prep for paint.

I got front glassworks and had them professionally painted, came out excellent although I payed as much as what I payed for the fenders. For the bedsides, I got engage off road, they're crap so I painted them myself. Bought primer, paint and clear from automotivethouchup.com and they come out clean without spending hundreds of dollars for pro painting. They way I see it I'll replace them down the road so for me I don't need pro finish for the rear. Even when I put some either Mcneil of glassworks I'd paint them myself again.

I don't care for flawless glass since eventually I'll mess them up on the trails/desert.

I would say it's likely the parts.

I've had cowl induction hoods, roll pans, etc. that you would have sworn was metal.

It 'could' be the shop, but if they've ever done 'vettes, Fieros, Saturns or other non metal bits well, they likely have the proper methods & experience.

You might look at getting your fenders/ Bedsides color matched with Line-x. The Line-X will add strength and is pretty durable to encounters with brush (Obviously dont try to crash into thick branches). I had them do this to my truck over a year ago. They also added automotive clear coat to the Line-x so it will basically take ~10yrs to fade. Basically just spray off the dirt with a pressure washer and it looks brand new.
