What can be done to prevent the hazing as to not run into this problem? My headlights are fine but would like to avoid this if possible.

I can honestly say that no matter what you use, it will never get it back to how it was before the oxidation came about. If you use any of those cleaners it clears up for a while but comes back worse. Go ahead and just buy new headlights if it bothers you that bad.

@baldy54 the headlights have to be color sanded and clear coated.

Depending on the hazing I would get wet sand paper start with the less aggressive one take your time. Clean it and If the hazing is gone use rubbing compound then finish with polishing compound. If you have a buffer the better. Just make sure you finish the wet sanding with a really fine grit. A detail shop recommend me to do it this way and the results were really good.

Using the headlight restoration kits where you have to polish the headlight actually takes off the factory coating that protects it in the first place. Try getting a rag, spray it with a ton of bug spray (with high deet) and wipe the headlight with that rag. You would be surprised how clean they come out looking!

might try this since it's just barely forming at the top right now. So this doesn't take off the protective coating from factory?

Installing headlight protection film after restoration will protect from re-oxidation.

As far as I know it doesn't. I think it is just really good at getting bug guts off your headlights :)
