There are talks of a prequel series about Robs rebellion and more of the lore and history of westeros.

 

Can he finish the remaining books before he starts that ha.

But about the prequels people said it wouldn't be as good because people would know the ending to certain characters. But I'm all in for it, wouldn't mind seeing Ned Stark for more than 10ish episodes

 

My buddy and I have been geeking out over the map ever since Arya says "what is west of Westeros?"

We know that the continent of Westeros is approximately the size of the united states turned vertically. GRRM says that in an interview.

Based on the wall being 300 miles long, the continent is (generously) 700 miles wide and 5000 miles tall.

The earth's circumference, if we are using the same earth, which GRRM has mentioned they are similar sizes, is 25000 miles.

This means that with Essos and Westeros and the seas, if drawn to scale, we have about 13000 miles shown to us horizontally, and about 7000 vertically. This leaves a solid 18000 miles south of Westeros, Assuming that the land of always winter is the northernmost point of the world, and another 12000 miles west of Westeros before hitting Essos. Further evidence would be from Sothoros (the southern continent). This continent is warm. Why doesn't it hit another cold climate? Because it is on the equator! The southern hemisphere hasn't been discovered yet.

The Grey Waste in Essos is very cold. I am willing to bet it connects to the far north somehow. Especially because the civilizations around there tell tales of Azor Ahai as well. The others probably attacked there.

We are looking at such a small area of the world. I hope we see more of it.

For anyone interested in a prequel story you should check out the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas. They take place about 100 years prior to Roberts rebellion and are a much less intensive read. They have some pretty sweet graphic novels out and they just released a complete book of the stories that are out in the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms book last year.

I sprung for the Lands of Ice and Fire map book. Think it may be the nerdiest thing I have ever purchase but they are awesome. You get like 8 big maps of the world with some pretty detailed info about minor townships and stuff of the sort.

 

Oh jeez, this is absolutely what is going to happen. I hadn't thought about it much but since the same magic, that of the children of the forest, protected the Three-eyed Raven's cave, and Bran has become poison to that magic by his contact with the night king, it will fall similarly.
He has to come back across the wall though; he is the only person on Westeros alive who knows the true lineage of Jon Snow. I hope anyone else believes the ravings of a paralyzed mad boy thought dead for years who communicates with trees. That hardly counts as proof for the nobility of Westeros. Would Danyeres even believe it?

 

He may be able to show them the same way as the old man was show Bran before he became the 3eyed Raven. They'd probably believe it more that way

 

Howland reed should know about Jon snow since he was with Ned at the tower of joy. Of course that's in the books but who knows

 

But is Howland Reed alive? I can't remember...
But it honestly may not matter if everyone know's he's a Targaryan, since he will probably end up marrying into the dynasty anyway.

 

Yeah he is alive but has never been seen in the books. He is Lord of Greywater Watch which is this weird apparently floating castle deal that the crannogmen use to hide and wage guerilla warfare with poison darts and such. Howland is the one that sent his kids, Jojen and Meera, to Bran to get him to the 3 eyed Raven.

 

Book readers had a theory that he was the high sparrow. Not so in the show

 

Apparently a lot of casual show watchers don't understand that jobs father is not Ned. They think he is an incest baby between Ned and Lyanna
