So I'm going in for my recall inspection....

As the title states I have an appointment at 3:30 for an inspection to see if the leafs need replacing. I spoke to.... I don't know.... Some dude responsible for making the appointments for service and he told me that if the springs aren't cracked or if the brackets aren't loose they don't replace them. How can I make sure they actually do? Should I cause a stink until they do? Any key phrases like "you wouldn't want a lawsuit if they fail and I crash into a bus full of orphans and nuns" that I should say? is there anything I can say to ensure I get the recall? Or am I at the mercy of whoever the fuck decides?

 

do they actually look bad? I think there is a way of going in there and making a convincing legal/safety point without flying off the handle for sure.

You can always call Toyota and file a complaint, if you see fit, after the inspection.

 

on my2011 with the 3 leaf spring pack, I put 500 pounds of shingles in the bed over the rear axel. It went down to the bumpers (bottomed out) and went to the dealer. The service manager oked the change of the leaf packs.

 

576lbs of cinder block on 4 leaf pack(is it 4 or 3 plus overload?)

Don't let them get away with that. If your springs have only three clips on the leaves, you get new springs, period. If you have 6 clips per spring, meaning yours have been replaced within the last year or two, you don't. They do NOT have to be cracked or have loose brackets to be replaced. If they refuse, go directly to corporate. I had mine done a month or so ago and all they were doing was sagging. NO cracks, No loose or missing leaf clips.

Yes it does.

 

Looks to me if you have 3 clips on your leafs regardless if they are the 3 or 4 leaf pack you will get them replaced.
Not sure if single cabs are included.

Went in, handed my flip key over (thanks tw) slept on a very comfortable chair for a half hour browsed tw for another half hour and bang! Recall accepted. Awaiting parts for a couple of days.

 

My neighbor works at a Toyota dealership...the above is what they use as the basis to replace. He said that they order 12 pairs at a time. I had my Tacoma leaf pack exchanged, seamless switch even though I don't notice a huge difference between the old and new.

 

Does it at least have a normal arch now? Mine is concave at the moment

I didn't notice a big change between the old leaf packs versus the new but to be fair I don't throw a lot of weight in the bed. But I figured new parts is new parts so...

 

According to that picture it looks like I'll be getting new springs.
