I have loose contacts in my OBD II connector. I have Scangauge II connected to it and it stopped working this afternoon. If I wiggle around the wires on the back of the connector it's starting working at certain wires connection. Looks like it's a corner wire (purple I beleive) which has issue.
    My question is:
    - Can someone tell me how to take apart connector and wires to it?
    - Can I replace the wire harness to the OBD II connector? It's only 4 wires goes there.
    - Can I repair/solder the wires or the wire resistance is critical that soldering would create problems?

I replaced my connector to the Scangauge. It's a solid $15, and much more sturdier than the original.

Does the Scangauge sells vehicle side OBD II Connector? Do you have a link?

My bad I thought you were referring to the connector cord that connects the OBDII to the scanguage. I didn't realize you were talking about the actual OBDII Port.

You should be able to pull the OBDII connector off the mounting point and figure out which wire is bad. They are usually installed with a pin that can be removed and/replaced. If the wire got hot and melted the plastic connector (where you scangauge plugs into the OBDII by the skinny pedal) you may need to replace the connector entirely. Regardless of what you find, disconnect both terminals of the battery first. Grounding the OBDII could cause the ECU to have a problem.

The resistance of the wiring to the connector built into the Tacoma is not a concern. I would use a piece of 18 AWG myself.
