Looking to do a little expedition starting Friday the 1st thru Monday the 4th. I've been trying to look at routes and spurs from various trails and then piece together forest roads that will connect them. However, this isn't particularly reliable as many of the MVUM/DOA "4WD roads" are actually private property/closed.

Normally, I'd say that re-routing and navigating around these hiccups is half the fun, but it looks like we're only going to be with one other rig with little experience and from out of state until just a few months ago.

So, with that, does anyone have any recommended routes/trails that can fill up two full days of driving with another half a day on either end? Do you have .gpx tracks for this route, or at least some coordinates/maps to reference and build a route with? Any help would be well appreciated, and deserving of a sixer of your choice of beer should you ever want to meet up.

Basically anywhere from Woodland Park north to like Fort Collins, and as far west as like Granby.

It's going to be crazy... I would head 4 hours west to Lake City and Alpine Loop it.

Wait a little longer and more will be open. Literally after the 4th is when most of the trails open. Can't have all the newb city dwellers setting off fireworks up there.

Just gonna go poke around near St. Mary's and then wheel around at Sheridan/Yankee/Kingston Sunday and Monday. I'll put together a well-planned trip for Labor Day.
