Hey all, first post but long time lurker. Finally pulled the trigger on some new BFG KO2s after reading several recommendations on these forums.

I've mounted the 265/75/16s on stock alloy 16's (5.25" bs) annnnnd... they're rubbing the stock UCAs at full tilt. Truck is not lifted. Gotta admit, I'm a bit surprised.

Could my alignment be so far out of whack as to cause this? I'll be aligning the susp. this weekend, so hopefully the problem resolves itself. But if not, I'd like some help exploring the options. As far as I can tell the following may help:

    - (Spidertrax) Spacers would definitely help, although I'm wary about spacers. Is that founded?
    - Aftermarket UCAs may provide more clearance. LR seem highly recommended on the forums, but can anyone say with certainty that they'll provide more sidewall clearance?
    - Trim the tires.. no thanks.

I'm a bit confused as to whether new shocks would help. The truck's at 70k so could probably use a set of bilstein 5100s up front sometime (currently stock). Several posts have seemed to suggest this may help with the rubbing, but after looking at a diagram of the suspension I'm not so sure it would have any effect. Can anyone clarify?

Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Here's to hoping an alignment does the trick!

This would probably be your best bet. Can you show us a photo of the rub?

Turns out the bump stop on the left side wasn't doing its job, so I could turn the wheel almost a full turn more to the right than to the left. The back half of the wheel was rubbing against the chassis. A weldong bead on the left bumpstop 'fixed' this, although no one could figure out why there was such a disparity in the first place. There IS a new LCA on the right side due to the alignment cam having seized a year ago, so that might be the cause, but it's not obvious as to how exactly. Both left and right LCAs appear identical.

There's very little clearance between the UCA and tire, but its actually not rubbing there as I'd originally suspected.

In other news, I went with an OME 2.5" lift, front and back. Been quite happy so far. But I recently took it in for an alignment and was told the SAI on the right was off by almost a full degree. We didn't have time to do a thorough diagnosis on this - but any chance that could be due to the OME life? Bilsteons and new coils up front.

Thanks for your reply! No spacers needed..

Just a follow-up.. could never get the caster right, thing felt pretty unstable at highway speeds. So I finally decided to upgrade the UCAs, went with the re-designed SPCs, and was able to get a solid 3* caster out of them. Thing feels stable as a rock, tracks straight even in the heavy winds here in CO.

Forewarning to those looking for an OME lift -- you're probably going to need to shell out for a set of aftermarket UCAs, so factor that into your budget...
