image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Need some opinions on a leveling kit vs lift kit on my rwd. My Tacoma came with the black wheel package and I'm loving the look of the wheels and tires so I don't plan to get rid of them anytime soon, but I would like to lift the truck and later get some wheel spacers.

Would getting a 3in lift kit w/factory wheels and tires look weird? Or should I go the other route and do a leveling kit w/spacers? Any ideas/opinions/advice?

I think it would look a little strange with a 3 inch lift and stock tires.

I'm in a similar spot with my 4x2. As weird as it sounds, I may end up doing a small 1/2" or 3/4" spacer up front to only slightly even out the rake. I measured with 500 lbs of stuff in the back and my truck was dead level. If I threw a 2" leveling spacer up front, suddenly my nose is pointing 2" at the sky when I'm hauling not that much stuff. Ick. And if I were really loading it down to capacity, like 1000+ lbs, it would look like I had collapsed my rear suspension or something.

If you do the 3 in lift, just get some bigger tires. Factory wheels will be fine just use tires to fill up the gap.

Here is 2WD SR5 with 2" front spacer 1" rear block with 1.25" Spidertrax wheel spacers and 265/75/16 KO2's. I would not 2" front spacer will level the front to back pretty well. I like the slight rake the 1" block gives it. Tape measure shows .5" higher in rear at lift.

Thanks guys I appreciate all the advice. I think I'll save up some more for a better suspension and bigger tires down the road. I might just do a 2" front leveling kit and some wheel spacers to give it more of a nicer stance.

You should consider getting a set of 5100's for the front and set the ride height at the first notch, .85", and run wheel spacers. Help give the truck a good level stance, improve the ride and look great with the stock wheels and tires.

Remember the Texas edition comes with 17" wheels so fill the gap accordingly :D

I really like the idea of that. I feel that will look a lot better than just leveling spacers and wheel spacers.

I do like the Wheels and Tires. I'd go with Desert Taco's recommendations. He's done his homework here and I think achieved a great balance of performance for value. I suggest avoiding Spacers and Block lifts/kits.

Thanks @DesertTaco4x4, I am going to take you up on your advice and get the 5100's and use the stock coils. I love the look of the stock wheels/tires so I will stick with those for a while and later just upgrade to some bigger tires. Your setup is sweet and I'm digging the look of your truck.

@odinsbro15 did the Rough Country 2 inch front lift. It's noticeably broed a little in the front.

Is this what you are going for?

I did the front and rear at the same time. Then went to get the truck aligned. As far as I know, there is zero alignment adjustment in the rear. BUT it could be argued that adjusting the height of the rear could make a difference in angles to the front. I'd say toss the rear block in and let it roll.

Ended up going with the 2" front spacer, 1.25 wheel spacers, and 285/70/17 BFG KO2's.

Now debating on 1" rear block or AAL, RC 3" lift kit, or a 4" spindle lift.
