Hey guys I posted 2pics of an old set of aluminum wheels and was wondering if there's any help for em. The clear coat is chipping, and even a rivot has corroded off. I can handle the rivot repair, but what's the best way to remove clear coat? After removal, is painting a better option? Guys feel free to give me your honest opinion (even if I need to go buy new ones!). Hope the pics show up good. Thanks yall

Sand blast and powder coat. Or sand blast and paint. But powder is more durable.

Was told sandblasting would pit the wheel, and was told a paint remover/thinner would take it off. Any opinion?

Guess that probably depends on the media used for blasting. Never done it myself but I watched a guy blast a car with soda and I was surprised how gentle it was.

I wouldn't try thinner. Maybe try aircraft stripper but for gawds sake protect yourself from contact with the stuff and don't breath the vapors. Its bad stuff.
