so I bought aftermarket wheels brand new and they installed new sensors in them. I did the reset with the button like the manual said but the light still won't go off. any answers would gladly be appreciated thank you.

Was it done at the Dealer or an independent shop? If I am not mistaken they have to write the numbers down off the sensors and then program them into the ECU.

It was a shop. I also read that in the manual but the weird thing was I was driving the truck for like half a day with no lights and now it went on.

So next question does Toyota charge to do this?

One more thing the 4 tires are new sensors the spare tire has the factory sensor still on it. If that makes sense

Take it back into the shop and have them do it again. If you take it somewhere else like toyota then they will charge you

The spare doesn't have a TPMS Sensor. They stopped doing that years ago.

Take it back to the tire shop and have them program the sensors into the ECU.

Since the light just came on, maybe there is a tire with low tire pressure that got put on. Why now check all the tires air pressure first.

If you got new sensors, they will need to be programmed into the truck's ECU. Some shops can do that, it isn't hard, but requires a special tool that attaches to the ECU input plug. Many shops do not do it. You should of course check your tire pressure, but make sure you get the four TPMS id's from the sensors installed from the shop that installed them. Then you can find someone to program them into the ECU. You might even have a friend who bought the tool. The truck will take some amount of operating time to complete the sensing, and turn on, or off the light. So, it might have taken that half day to light your light. Especially if you didn't drive much.

When you bought these tires on line, did they ask you to provide them with the current TPMS codes that are programmed? If not, then the new sensors need to have their codes programmed into the ECU. A tire shop with a programmer can usually do it. You can also buy a TechStream cable and software (knock off cable/software to talk to Toyota ECU) to program it yourself if you have a computer that the software will work on. Or if your lucky, maybe someone in your area has the TechStream cable and can do it for you.

I'm having the same issue, also sometimes the sensor light flashes. The tires all have 40psi

If the light flashes then goes solid, you have a bad sensor or in some case no sensor.

Your original spare doesn't have a TPMS Sensor unless you installed it yourself. Not factory.

Does the tire shop have to take off the tires to read the IDs off the sensors, or can they just pick that up via radio?

They were still putting them in the spare in 06 from the factory.... So yeah, you should.
