As soon as you think you're "not the only one"; you are the only one.

I put sound deadener in my truck when I upgrade my stereo and it did make the interior noticeably quieter. I have no problem using voice commands, even with my heavy MA accent.

If I had one complaint with my 2016 it would be the navigation system. Mine has an outdated map and is far inferior to my Gatmin. I will use the latter when I travel down to Seattle in August. I will also use the Toyota system and compare

it worked for me. Note: I preprogrammed the destination address into the navigation for a long road trip to TX before leaving home.. Then, every time we shut the truck off to get gas/food, etc., you normally would have to reset by hand when starting back out on the road...however, the voice command let me "say the destination" while pulling out onto the road again from a stop. No messing with all those buttons/menus again.

It should work. The Toyota Nav lockout is connected to the wheel speed sensor. Putting a toggle switch on it will aloow you to cut that signal and make the nav think the truck is parked. I did this mod to my 2014 Tundra and it worked like a champ. It just takes a few seconds for GPS to lock onto your position after you turn it back on.

Subscribed since I'm most interested in being able to go through setup menus and navigation while driving if needed

I've used the voice command in many of our vehicles to program navigation while driving, but I don't have nav in my Tacoma. Is it really that bad? All I can do with it in my sr5 is make calls and tune the radio. I normally just use Siri for nav while driving since I don't have it built in.
